LINCS is recruiting volunteers to participate in one or more research studies this summer!

Humanities Researcher Survey

Are you a student or scholar of the humanities? Take this short survey to help the LINCS team learn more about how humanities researchers explore, find, and use research data. No prior knowledge of LINCS, digital humanities, or linked data required.

Time commitment: 25 minutes

Design Frolic

Join us for a creative and engaging session to help design the interface of a LINCS research website. Led by LINCS’s talented summer students, you will work in small groups to design a homepage. No design experience required. See past Frolics here.

Date of next Frolic: late October
Time commitment: 3.5 hours
Location: Virtual session. A Zoom link will be sent to you.

 

LINCS Short Daily Survey

Explore tools for linked open data and receive a series of short exercises provided by email that you can answer in your own time. One question per weekday for two weeks! No prior knowledge of LINCS, linked data, or user interface design required.

Time commitment: less than 5 mins a day
Location: Links will be sent to you via email.

 

Usability Testing Think-aloud

Explore one of the newest LINCS websites for linked open data. You will chat with a pair of LINCS researchers as you explore the website or design concepts and describe what you see and experience along the way. No prior knowledge of LINCS, linked data, or user interface design required.

Time commitment: 1 hour
Location: Virtual session. A Zoom link will be sent to you.

 

Card-sort Exercise

Help us organize our new website! You will meet with a pair of LINCS researchers. Your task is to arrange the cards about the LINCS website into categories that make most sense to you. No prior knowledge of LINCS, linked data, or user interface design required.

Time commitment: 40 minutes
Location: Virtual session. A Zoom link will be sent to you.

Your participation in all of the above is voluntary. There is no compensation for your participation.

All studies are conducted under the University of Guelph Research Ethics Board #22-01-009. You will receive a full information letter prior to beginning user-testing for LINCS.
